Our Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) Offerings

✨ We are here to fully support all our clients with their EAL programs - Contact us.

✨ Join us in Sonoma, CA, September 24 &/or 25 for a deeply connected personal wellbeing experience with horses, which includes experiences from our 1-Day Mindfulness and 3-Day Heart Connection with Horses. This is not one of our train-the-trainer trainings, rather this is a facilitated experience that everyone can attend.
Sonoma, CA 9/24 & 9/25

✨ In 2027, we will continue to facilitate wellbeing experiences that anyone can attend and we're shifting to only offering private train-the-trainer trainings for groups and organizations, held at their location. Once dates are set, we provide a fixed price to conduct the training(s). This is an incredible opportunity to train an entire team to facilitate EAL programs. Some of our nonprofit clients are successful in securing grant and major donor funding to train their staff. Contact us to learn more.

✨ If you're looking for an excellent virtual training to attend, we highly recommend Leah Dyck's Equus Empowered for facilitating one on one horse interactions based on coherence and energetic exchanges. Learn more here:

Our Train-the-Trainer EAL Trainings are offered solely as Private Trainings.

Private trainings are an incredible opportunity to train your entire team at your location to facilitate EAL programs based on a common approach and tools, plus you can invite others to join and share the cost. Once dates are set, we provide a fixed price to conduct the training(s), with the deposit due when dates are set and a final payment at the time of the training. Some of our nonprofit clients are successful in securing grant and major donor funding to train their staff. Contact us to learn more.

Your group will learn to facilitate powerful horse experiences. Our approach to Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is in partnership with horses, where we open, connect, and even commune with them to receive their wisdom and coherence entrainment. Gain insight into supporting clients in finding their own meaning in the experiences they have with horses. These are our train-the-trainer programs and certifications:
  • Certified EAL Facilitator: business training, team building, leadership development, coaching, personal growth, youth programs, etc.
  • Certified EAL Mindfulness & Wellbeing Facilitator: mindfulness, meditations, wellbeing, self-care, energy balancing, energetic exchanges, etc.

Your group will be inspired and nurtured while enhancing coaching skills. They will be supported by simple step-by-step techniques, along with extensive tools to facilitate powerful experiences with horses.

Below you information about our model, our approach, and what makes our training experiences different than others.

Each training is independent, so there's no prerequisites to take one training before another. Our Trainings webpage has information about each training, along with quotes from prior attendees:

EAL Academy is Different

When comparing EAL Academy with other trainings, there are a few important distinctions

At EAL Academy, we do things differently. Our accelerated and experiential trainings are designed to be simple, effective, and transformative, so you can start facilitating right away without ongoing fees or hidden costs. Plus, we provide ongoing support for your EAL program. This is what sets us apart:

✔ Simple, Fast, High Quality Training

We have been training others to facilitate EAL since 2007. We provide complete, straightforward, and practical training experiences, with no future financial obligations. We train in small groups (typically 6 - 12) where everyone can get to know each other, has the opportunity to have their questions answered, and has a personalized experience.
✔ Comprehensive Materials & Immediate Readiness
Pre-work ensures more hands-on time with horses during the trainings. Our resources include step-by-step guides, forms, templates, tools, and samples built from 20+ years of experience. Simply add your branding and you're prepared to lead EAL programs right after each training.
✔ Lifetime Certification
Knowledge-based certifications rooted in a coaching model. No memberships or ongoing fees required. You choose when and how to invest in continuing education and our goal is to earn your future education investments.
✔ Proven Results
99.9% of past attendees recommend our trainings
98.6% overall satisfaction rating
You can recover your investment by hosting a few EAL programs

✔ EAL Business Building Support
Running an EAL businesses requires the same dedication as any other business. While we focus on EAL aspects - marketing, pricing, program design - we also encourage you to seek out local resources for general business development and professional services. Together, this combination sets you up for success.
✔ More than Training - Ongoing Support & Community
We're transparent, supportive, and share everything we've learned since 2003 so you can succeed. At any point we'll answer your EAL questions. We encourage the groups that train together to continue to be a support to each other, and, after attending any of our trainings, we'll connect you with our community of past attendees. Our goal is simple: to help you create meaningful experiences where people learn and grow through the wisdom of horses.

Yes, our EAL Facilitator Model is Different

Prior Experience
We welcome adults from all backgrounds - no professional degree or qualifications are required to attend our trainings. If you do have professional experience, you'll likely find it enhances the way you work with clients and build your programs.
Educational, Not Therapeutic
Our model is educational rather than therapeutic, using an experiential coaching approach. Many programs in the field lean on medical or therapeutic models, while our focus remains firmly within the learning context. In our EAL Accelerated Facilitator Certification, we emphasize the importance of maintaining this boundary and we provide simple, effective techniques to ensure you do so.
Our model does not require a licensed mental health professional as part of your facilitation team. However, if you hold therapeutic credentials, all of our horse activities and facilitation methods can be easily used in a therapeutic setting.
Facilitation Team
For the best client experience - and to ensure safety - we recommend at least two human facilitators for group programs. It's best when all facilitators understand horses and possess strong facilitation skills. We partner with horses as sentient beings and equal co-facilitators. We honor the horse's voice and choice in participation. All activities are on the ground (no riding) focused on the connection of people and horses, and the horses' feedback is the heart of the learning experience, translating their wisdom for clients, when needed. Above all, horse consent, wellbeing, and the physical, emotional and energetic safety of both horses and people remain our priorities.
Your Voice and Values
We believe the strongest EAL programs are built on your voice and values, your horsemanship approach, passions, and unique perspectives. Authenticity is at the heart of effective facilitation. During the trainings, we'll explore how to weave your voice into your program so your work feels natural, aligned, and impactful.

In 2020, the Equine-Assisted Services industry aligned terminology for services with horses in the areas of learning, psychotherapy, therapeutic riding, and horsemanship. You can learn more here. The new terminology supports our industry with common language, although clients of these services will continue to have difficulty connecting with the industry terminology. When describing, promoting, and selling your equine programs and services to prospective clients, we highly recommend simple language that is easy for prospects to understand, i.e., "learning with horses" rather than "equine assisted learning."

POWER OF PRESENCE

You don’t ride.
You don’t need to speak.
You simply show up, as you are.
And the horse – gentle, present, intuitive – meets you there.
This is an invitation to pause, breathe, and return to calmness.
An opportunity to align with the horse.

You’ll feel and witness a shift.
You’ll commune and reconnect with yourself.
And the horse grounds, regulates, and shows where to bring your awareness.
This is a sacred journey that calls you into your next level.
Oneness, knowingness, respite.
There’s a certain feeling that stays with you long after the experience.
It’s found in stillness, in touch, in presence.
It's souls connected.
