Training Cancelation Policy

Effective March 9, 2019; Last Updated: March 26, 2025

We understand that things happen and, if you’re not able to attend a training program, EAL Academy will accommodate your change based on the information provided here at the time of your purchase.

EAL Academy makes all marketing and expense decisions based on the number of registrations for each training. Because we train in small groups, there's a financial impact due to committed costs when there's a cancelation without adequate time to backfill the spot. If the spot can be backfilled, then EAL Academy may offer a more generous refund than defined in this policy, and this determination will be made after the training.

All cancellation and transfer requests must be in writing to the email address above.

Refunds for in-person training purchases are based on when you submit your cancellation request:
  • Within 2 business days of your purchase or within 43 or more days before the training start date - Almost Full Refund - You'll be refunded the full amount paid less a refund fee that includes:
  1. Administration processing fee of $47.
  2. Credit/Debit card and/or other transaction fees that are not refunded to EAL Academy by the transaction processor (Square, Venmo, PayPal, etc.); you may register by check or personal Venmo and PayPal transactions to avoid these fees.
  3. If you have received the training curriculum, which is typically provided after this point, then the following will be retained: $1,747 for the Facilitator Certification, $347 for the Mindfulness, and $1,147 for the Heart Connection with Horses
  • 21 to 42 days before the training start date - 50% Refund - you'll be refunded the amount paid over 50% of the registration cost.
  • 20 days or less before the training start date - No Refund
No refund for webinars, virtual trainings, and curriculum purchases because recordings and/or materials are provided.

You may transfer or reschedule your in-person training registration one time, as follows:
  • 43 or more days before the training start date: You may transfer your registration to a future training that occurs within 12 months of the original training date.
  • 42 or less days before the training start date: You may transfer your registration to another person that you've arranged to fill your spot, and that person will pay you directly. We may have a wait-list of interested attendees. If you have already received the training curriculum, then you'll pay EAL Academy for the curriculum before your registration is transferred to another person:  $1,747 for the Facilitator Certification, $347 for the Mindfulness, and $1,147 for the Heart Connection with Horses. Transferring your registration to another person must be for the entire training; daily substitution is not permitted.

EAL Academy reserves the right to cancel any training program, change program location, and change instructors. If a training program is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, that decision will be made no later than 5 weeks before the in-person training start date. If we cancel a training program for any reason, EAL Academy will provide you with the option to participate in a future training program or refund the full amount paid.

EAL Academy is not responsible for any fees or expenses incurred by training attendees, including those related to changing or canceling travel arrangements (airline reservations, rental car reservations, hotel and lodging reservations, meals, etc.).

Training Viewing Policy

Effective: August 26, 2022; Last Updated: November 8, 2023

Many individuals are curious about our trainings and interested in watching rather than attending. In order to support an emotionally safe learning environment and align with the confidentiality commitment all attendees make at the start of each training, only those attending and involved with conducting the training are allowed to be present; which includes training attendees, EAL Academy staff, host staff, and volunteers supporting the horse activities.

Watching is not allowed and anyone expecting to watch a training must register and fully participate.

Training Curriculum Sharing Policy

Effective: April 9, 2021; Last Updated: April 9, 2021

EAL Academy training attendees have the right to use the training curriculum and materials for their own use but per the copyright only the authors have the right to sell and/or share any content.

COVID Policy

Effective: July 23, 2022, 2021; Last Updated: November 8, 2023

To protect the health of people and horses at in-person trainings, this is EAL Academy's protocol:
  • We follow CDC and local guidelines for in-person trainings.
  • If you're actively shielding for reasons such as age or illness, please do not attend our in-person trainings.
  • If you're experiencing flu-like symptoms you must be tested for COVID and have your results before arriving at our training. If you or someone you've been in close contact with has tested positive for COVID within 3 days of the start of the training, contact EAL Academy by phone and email to discuss your situation and COVID status.
  • Our hosts may have additional COVID requirements.
